UC San Diego Ranked 12th Nationally Among Peace Corps’ Top Colleges

UC San Diego ranks 12th nationally among large schools on Peace Corps’ 2014 Top Colleges list, up from 13th place last year. The campus took the No. 4 spot among large California schools in the annual list which recognizes the highest volunteer-producing colleges and universities for small, medium, large and graduate institutions. There are currently 54 undergraduate alumni from UC San Diego serving overseas in the Peace Corps. Read More »

UC San Diego a National Leader for Long-Term Study Abroad

Drawn to Barcelona for the excitement of a large metropolitan city and the opportunity to interact with a global community, Mireya Pinell-Cruz recently embarked on a yearlong study abroad journey to Spain. Pinell-Cruz is one of more than 100 UC San Diego students who study and conduct research abroad for a year or longer—part of a total of 1,200 UC San Diego students who go abroad each year. UC San Diego Chancellor Emerita Marye Anne Fox has been selected to receive the 2014 Clark Kerr Award for Distinguished Leadership in Higher Education. The award recognizes individuals who have made extraordinary and distinguished contributions to the advancement of higher education. Competition to Give Back: UC San Diego Kicks Off Annual United Way/CHAD Campaign

The competition has officially begun to see which vice chancellor area, or the chancellor’s office, can inspire the most participation in supporting the annual UC San Diego United Way/CHAD Campaign. Theatre and Dance Professor Wins Design Award

The League of Professional Theatre Women is honoring the work of Judith Dolan, a Tony Award-winning UC San Diego professor of theatre and dance and head of design, with the Ruth Morley Design Award. Gregory Boyd, artistic director of the Alley Theatre, will be presenting the award in a ceremony March 10 at the Signature Theatre in New York City. 2014 YWCA TWIN Award Nominations for Women Faculty

The Chancellor’s Advisory Committee on the Status of Women (CSW) is seeking nominations for women in faculty positions for this year’s YWCA’s “Tribute to Women & Industry” (TWIN) Award. Since 1981, CSW has alternated nominating UC San Diego faculty and staff women for the award. All nominations are due March 7 for CSW review. Read More »
