CAMP ‘Bridge to the Doctorate’ Program Graduates 12 Doctoral Candidates in STEM Fields

The National Science Foundation awarded $972,000 to the California Louis Stokes Alliance for Minority Participation in Science, Engineering and Mathematics Program (CAMP) at UC San Diego in 2006. The fellowship, called the Bridge to the Doctorate supplement, would support 12 underrepresented graduate students pursuing advanced degrees in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) fields. Alan Houston, provost of Eleanor Roosevelt College and current chair of the Council of Provosts, will serve as UC San Diego’s Interim Vice Chancellor – Student Affairs beginning July 1. Houston joined the UC San Diego faculty in 1989 as a professor of political science and has served as provost for the last three and a half years. 7th Annual UCSD School Supply Drive to Support Local Students

The annual UCSD School Supply Drive will take place July 8 to Aug. 31 to collect donations for a dozen local disadvantaged elementary, middle and high schools. More than 30 decorated boxes will be placed across campus where new supplies such as notebooks, crayons, binders, backpacks, children’s books and more may be contributed. Your help will have a direct impact on students who lack the most basic tools for success. For a full list of donation box locations and supplies needed click here.
