For Pauline Foster, community philanthropist and longtime supporter of UC San Diego, giving $7.5 million in support of the new cancer care hospital at the UC San Diego Jacobs Medical Center is a gift from the heart—both her husband and brother died of cancer. The campus announced today that the facility will be named “The Pauline and Stanley Foster Hospital for Cancer Care,” in consideration of her charitable contribution. Read More »

Muslim Student Association and Union of Jewish Students collaborate on proposal to expand campus dining hall menus

Two student groups are partnering on an initiative to increase the variety of Kosher and Halal food options in campus dining halls. Although Halal and Kosher diets differ, both groups decided to work together on a proposal finalized in April that advocates for increased food options that fit both the Halal and Kosher diet criteria. UC Team Created to Help Streamline Transfer Student Pathways

UC President Janet Napolitano has formed the Transfer Action Team to strategize how to streamline the transfer process for California Community College students. The goal is to clarify requirements needed and improve methods to track progress. The team will also work towards attracting students from a wider range of institutions with a focus on increasing social mobility and access for low-income and first-generation college students—a key population for meeting California’s future workforce demands.
