UC San Diego Achieves ‘Gold’ STARS Sustainability Rating

UC San Diego has earned a “gold” sustainability-performance rating in the prestigious annual Sustainability Tracking Assessment and Rating System (STARS) survey. This year, the campus is one of seven colleges in California and the only college in the San Diego region to achieve a STARS “gold” rating, which is in effect for three years. When UC San Diego participated in the survey in 2011, it was the first college or university in California to achieve gold. Read More »

The University of California, San Diego School of Medicine announced today that it is a Grand Challenges Explorations winner, an initiative funded by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. Greg G. Goldgof, a graduate student in UC San Diego’s Biomedical Sciences Graduate Program and the Medical Science Training Program will pursue an innovative global health and development research project. A total of $341,250 has been awarded to ten junior faculty members who have been named the 2013-2014 Hellman Faculty Fellows at the University of California, San Diego. SANDAG to Hold Open House on New Trolley Extension to UC San Diego Campus

The San Diego Association of Governments (SANDAG) will host an Open House from 3 to 6 p.m. at The Forum in Price Center East on June 10 to discuss and receive feedback on plans for a trolley extension project. The Mid-Coast Corridor Transit Project will extend the San Diego Trolley Blue Line (light rail) from the Santa Fe Depot downtown to University City and the UC San Diego campus.
